6 Great Ways to Spoil Your Cat

Do you have a kitty? Our feline pals make wonderful pets! Fluffy is cute, clean, and lovable, and has a special way of making us laugh with her silly antics. Since September is Happy Healthy Cat Month, we thought this was a great time to offer some suggestions on keeping your furry buddy content. Read on as a local Moorpark, CA vet lists some great ways to keep your pet’s motor going.

Toys

Playing is great for cats, both mentally and physically. Make sure Fluffy has lots of fun toys to smack under the couch. Kitties all have their own purrsonal tastes about things: some like string toys, while others prefer catnip mice. Offer your furball a variety, and pay attention to what she likes best.

Kitty Garden

We recommend keeping cats indoors. Kitties that go outside are exposed to several serious dangers, including cars, other animals, and weather. Keep your pet safe and sound inside! To give Fluffy a taste of nature, set out some pet-safe plants for her to nibble on and hide behind. You can find a complete list at the ASPCA website.

Vertical Space

Our feline friends love to climb to high places. Offer your cute pet some vertical space. Cat towers are great, as they also offer Fluffy a nail-care station, a jungle gym, and a napping spot. You can also get your kitty some wall-mounted furniture.

Beds

As you’ve likely noticed, kitties take their beauty rest very, very seriously. Make sure Fluffy has lots of beds and comfy napping spots!

Entertainment

Although napping may be kitties’ favorite pastime, Fluffy can’t sleep all the time. Offer your pet a comfy napping spot in front of a window with a good view. For extra purrs, put a birdfeeder up in your furball’s line of sight.

Purrs and Cuddles

Kitties may pretend to be cold and aloof, but at the end of the day, many of them are actually quite the little cuddlebugs! Spend time with your cat every day. Talk to her, pet her, and play with her. If you have to leave Fluffy by herself, leave a light and a radio or TV on, so she isn’t sitting alone in a dark, quiet house.
