Our Careteam

Hospital Manager

When Jennifer first took a job as a veterinary receptionist, she didn’t know that it would have a profound and lasting impact on her life. As fate would have it, though, she quickly fell in love with the field of animal care and hasn’t looked back since! Jennifer has now been a veterinary professional for more than 20 years, and she’s proud to serve the pets and animal owners of the area as the Hospital Manager here at American Veterinary Hospital.

Jennifer was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley, and began in the veterinary field in 1997. Having known Dr. Cruz for a number of years, she jumped at the chance to join his team when she heard that he was looking for help—Jennifer has been a member of the American Veterinary Hospital family since May of 2017 and serves as the Hospital Manager. Her favorite part of the job is the lifelong relationships she’s been able to form with clients and pets. For her, bonding with the area’s families is what it’s all about!

In her time away from work, Jennifer enjoys cooking and spending time with her family and pets at home. She and her husband, Juan, have a young son named Lucas and two dogs: Brownie the Siberian Husky and a Husky/Malamute mix named Cookie.

Veterinary Assistant, Receptionist

Ingrid’s father worked as an agricultural engineer, and Ingrid grew up with a natural affinity for nature, animals, and medicine. It was her dad who first inspired her to study in the field of animal care. Now, she’s able to help pets every day as a member of the American Veterinary Hospital team!

Ingrid first heard about an opening here at the clinic from a schoolmate of hers, and she was happy to join the hospital family in 2014. She serves as a Veterinary Assistant and a receptionist, and her favorite part of the job is witnessing a pet’s behavior improve after treatment has made them feel like themselves again. Ingrid also has an interest in reproductive care, and ultimately hopes to become a large-animal veterinarian and specialize in breeding.

At home, Ingrid has a cat, Chihin, as well as a dog named Rocko.

Veterinary Assistant

Ivan’s lifelong dream is to become a zoologist. After being introduced to the medical side of the animal world, though, he decided that he’d like to try out a more hands-on care experience with the earth’s creatures. That’s why Ivan became a veterinary professional! He helps the area’s pets and animal parents every day as one of American Veterinary Hospital’s Veterinary Assistants.

Ivan attended Pierce College to study animal medicine and had the opportunity to mentor under an experienced large-animal veterinarian, which helped to stoke his passion for livestock medicine. When he decided to explore the small-animal care world, he was happy to join the team here at American Veterinary Hospital—Ivan particularly likes drawing blood samples and looking at bacteria slides under the microscope.

Aside from his interests in veterinary medicine, Ivan enjoys drawing, writing, paper-crafting, and sculpting. In the future, he hopes to use his artistic talents to make educational materials that will better the public’s knowledge of veterinary care!

Veterinary Assistant

Angella has been fascinated by animals since her earliest days. The older she got, the more she grew to enjoy science. When Angella found out that there was a career that involved pets, science, and the ability to help others on a daily basis, the choice was obvious! She’s been laser-focused on veterinary medicine ever since, and is proud to now serve as a Veterinary Assistant.

Angella is originally from Vietnam, and immigrated to the United States with her family when she was only six years old. Her animal-care journey began the summer after her freshman year of college, when she started volunteering in local veterinary clinics to gain crucial hands-on experience. Angella loved the work so much that she continued helping at animal hospitals her entire college career! After graduation, she was thrilled to accept a position here at American Veterinary Hospital as a Veterinary Assistant.

One of Angella’s favorite parts of her work is that she never stops learning on the job. Every day provides an opportunity for her to soak up more knowledge! She also likes the fact that no two days are ever quite the same.

When she isn’t caring for pets here at the clinic, Angella enjoys crocheting and knitting, and is also fond of archery. She started shooting in college, and even won the second-place prize in a national competition!
